When You Should Invest in Training for Your Employees
Trends Driving LMS Growth Infographic
Businesses have started to implement a Learning Management System (LMS) for training of not only their new employees but also for cross training and advanced career development for their existing employees. BetterBuys’ infographic 4 Key Trends Driving LMS Growth Infographic discusses 4 trends that are driving growth for LMS implementation. The trend that really jumped out at me is that “by 2020 Millennials are expected to make up 75% of the workforce”. And we all know that Millennials are expecting some form of eLearning for their training*.
What trend surprised you or confirmed what you were already thinking?
ADDIE Model Infographic
Are you familiar with the ADDIE Instructional Design Model? Since I am an accidental instructional designer I’ve heard about the ADDIE model and have always had it on my to-do list to learn more about but, as usual, life gets away from me and I don’t think about it again until I hear or read it again. The ADDIE Instructional Design Model Infographic created by Nicole Legault does a great job of highlighting the key points of the ADDIE model.
Are you using videos in your eLearning?
I recently read a statistic that 98% of organizations included video in their digital learning strategies in 2016. After reading this statistic I started to evaluate my videos and questioning when I use videos and are they engaging my users. Atomi, an eLearning Authoring Tool, created an infographic all about the mistakes to avoid when creating videos for your eLearning courses. I hope you learn a couple new tricks like I did from their 5 Mistakes in Using Videos for E-Learning Courses Infographic.
Evaluating Your Online Courses –
LearningZen’s View Portal Course Tool
Wouldn’t it be cool if you knew exactly what a student was struggling with in a course? Or how about your whole training community? How can you fix those deficiencies if you can’t find them?
The simple answer is you can’t so let’s go find them.
Administrators and Managers have a great tool called View Portal Courses. What’s this? Am I speaking some foreign language? No, but I’m about to blow your mind if you’re a training geek like me 😊
Let’s play in the land of Zen shall we?
Start by either clicking on your Portal or Manager tab depending on your role in the portal:
Now click on the Student’s tab and view the list of students and their course status or score:
Now click on that score and view their chosen answers:
*Note you can print this or even send the student a message about it directly from this view
Well that was cool!
Now what about the whole team? I want to know what the most common issues for the whole group are, so let’s do that next:
From still inside that course click the Statistics tab instead of the student tab:
Well look at that! It’s all there and now I can take a look at the questions most often missed and make some adjustments. For example, maybe I need a video for that concept or maybe my exam question is misleading?
Alright Zenigans that’s the hint of the day – Now go check it out and let me know what you want to see next!
